Interuniversity Seminar: Critical and Committed Education at University

The Association of Catalan Public Universities collaborates with the UAB Solidarity Foundation (FAS) in organizing a working seminar to detect opportunities on the Education for Development (EPD) introductory curriculum in university studies, as well as to formulate strategies to achieve a transversal and progressive implementation.

The conference will be held on 15 January 2015 at the Casa Convalescencia, Barcelona. The Seminar will be a work space, participation and exchange between schools, organizations and individuals with multiple paths in the field of Higher Education, for thinking together and promote integration in the curriculum degree of public universities in order to have a critical and transformative spirit on education.

The current scenario of global crisis highlights the urgent need for new paradigms. It is in this context that Higher Education institutions also face the challenge of revitalizing its role in the generation of critical thinking and the formation of a socially engaged citizenship. Based on this discussion, the seminar will emphasize the need to promote educational activities in university curricula that encourage reflection and knowledge development models and society more fair, democratic and sustainable.

This activity is part of the project "Promoting education for development in the current university context," coordinated by the UAB-FAS from networking with offices cooperation of 8 members of the ACUP public universities, colleges and universities, teachers and social organizations, among others, and it has the support of the City Council of Barcelona and the Catalan Agency for Development and Cooperation.

The seminar is closed. More than 40 professionals from various fields will work on defining common synergies. Their results will be part of the diagnosis being drawn from the project with a description of the state of the art and the formulation of recommendations.
