The University management training program for Haitian institutions begins with the participation of 30 representatives of institutions of higher education in Haiti

The first seminar will take place on 16, 17 and 18 February as part of the University management training program for Haitian institutions. The Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP) and a consortium of Canadian universities comprising the universities of Laval, Ottawa, Moncton and Sherbrooke (LOMS consortium) organize the program in collaboration with the Haiti State University and the Harvard University, the Obra Social "la Caixa" and Open Society Foundation.

More than 30 representatives of member universities of the Conference of Rectors, Presidents and leaders of higher education institutions in Haiti (Corpuha), as well as representatives from the Ministry of Education and Professional Training in Haiti (MENFP) take part in the program.

The main objectives of the training program are to introduce participants to the current transformation of higher education worldwide and the important role of universities in society. Likewise, the program intends to give participants an overview of innovative management sector of higher education institutions, to help improve the functioning of Haitian institutions, providing participants with practical skills that enable them to adapt to the transformation of higher education in their own environment, and finally join the participants in the implementation of change projects in their work environment.

The program is organized into four thematic blocks related to important aspects of university management: policies and guidelines; the objectives of university management; management tools; and the future of universities. These blocks include several thematic training modules that will be conducted this year during four training seminars in Haiti and a one-week training seminar in Barcelona. In addition, participants will receive individualized training to design, plan and develop a personal action plan to develop specific projects in their respective institutions.
