Press release of the Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP)
The rectors of the Universities and the presidents of their Social Councils belonging to the Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP) wish to express our support on:
.-The resolution of the Parliament of Catalonia on 27th September that states "the need for the Catalan people to decide freely and democratically their collective future".
.-As representatives of the public universities in Catalonia we offer our willingness to contribute from our institutions to consolidate and promote the position of the Parliament with all those contributions that allow a social, economic and cultural progress.
.- We also want to remember that higher education and research are the cornerstones of modern societies. In this sense they are a valuable tool to enhance the capabilities of advanced societies to generate progress, prosperity, wealth and competitiveness through the impacts of universities in scientific research, social development and cultural innovation and economic progress.
