The ACUP organizes a seminar on the internationalization of universities

The ACUP organized a seminar on the internationalization of universities in September 10th at the Ciutadella Campus, Universitat Pompeu Fabra. The seminar aimed to contribute to the discussion about the motivations and international trends of internationalization of universities. It also intended to analyze the role of universities and the global knowledge of society, placing a special emphasis on the experience of European universities in attracting international talent.

Ferran Sancho, rector of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, opened the seminar on behalf the Association of Catalan Public Universities. Gilles Breton, professor of the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, University of Ottawa, Canada presented his paper on "The role of universities and their internationalization strategies at the present time'. After him it was expected the presentation by Ulla Bo Giorling, head of internationalization at the University of Aarhus, Denmark, based on 'Internationalization at the University of Aarhus: design and strategies for attracting talent', but she could not attend the seminar due to a snow storm. Antoni Castellà, secretary for Universities and Research of the Generalitat of Catalonia, closed the event.
