The 4th University Management Training Seminar for Haitian Higher Education Administrators Driven by the ACUP-LOMS Consortium Held in Barcelona

During the week of 18 to 22 June a delegation consisting of thirty representatives of fifteen Haitian higher education institutions, including rectors, vice rectors, deans and directors, will visit the universities of the ACUP. The visit is the fourth seminar of the university management training program for Haitian institutions, driven by the Obra Social "la Caixa" and developed by the ACUP jointly with the Canadian universities of Laval, Ottawa, Moncton and Sherbrooke (LOMS consortium), and the investment of the Open Society Foundations (Soros Foundations). The program consists of five seminars, three of which held so far and the next taking place in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

The main purpose of the visit is to promote among the Haitian delegation the Catalan public university system through lectures and the visit of the ACUP centers. The visit also aims to strengthen the relationship between the Catalan and Haitian universities and to advance the work of institutional projects that each participant is performing in Haiti. Canadian universities from the LOMS consortium will be represented by six of its experts. These experts will give lectures and workshops to support the framework of the seminar that will be held at CaixaForum Barcelona.

The main objective of the training program on university management for institutions of higher education is to help strengthen the Haitian universities, so they can be capable of forming a stable and effective public managers qualified to respond adequately to the challenges of Haitian society in the coming years. In addition, the Obra Social "la Caixa" supports ACUP to help strengthen the institutional capacities of public authorities of Haiti, making technical and managerial cadres meet the needs of the Haitian public affairs.
