ACUP hosts in Barcelona the third meeting of the European project TeRRIFICA's consortium (Territorial RRI fostering innovative climate action)
A new meeting of the European consortium, hosted by the ACUP, took place on 3 and 4 December at the headquarters of the Fábrica del Sol in Barcelona, an environmental education facility promoted by the Barcelona City Council’s Department of Ecology, Urban Planning and Mobility.
This meeting was a good opportunity to take stock of the project’s achievements during its first year of life, as well as to plan the next steps. Among these, there is the planning of eight summer schools and the launch of a crowdmapping tool through which citizens, by joining forces, can help building an interactive map that collects their opinions and experiences in those places where climate change is tangible as well as develop local or regional climate action plans from the points marked. The following day, the partners attended the ‘Citizen Science Experiences from Academia’ workshop organised by the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology (ICTA-UAB). In this context, researchers from this institute and the Centre For Ecological Research and Forestry Applications (CREAF) presented a series of projects that relate climate change and citizen science.
TeRRIFICA is a project funded by the European Comission’s Horizon 2020 programme within the Science with and for Society line. TeRRIFICA is coordinated by WILA Bonn and its consortium is composed by the Rhine-Waal University (Kleve, Germany), the Education for Sustainable Development Association (Minsk, Belarus), the Center for the Promotion of Science (Belgrade, Serbia), the University of Vechta (Germany), the Adam Mickiewicz University (Poznan, Poland), Sciences Citoyennes (París, France) and the Catalan Association of Public Universities (Barcelona).
