International TeRRIFICA Summer School

The International Summer School “Climate Futures” will be held in September 2022 in Barcelona and is organized by the EU funded project TeRRIFICA (Territorial Responsible Research and Innovation Fostering Innovative Climate Action). This event is part of the European Sustainable Development Week 2022.

The aim of the Summer School is the collaboration of students from different European countries to imagine “climate futures” for Europe by 2030.

Key topics of the Summer School are:

  • Climate change adaptation/mitigation measures in the European regions
  • Urban planning and consequences of climate change
  • Stakeholder and community engagement
  • Citizen Science and Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) methods in climate science

Participants will be involved in intensive exchange with experts and peers on regional climate challenges and best European practices in climate adaptation and mitigation. Through interactive keynote speeches, field trips to climate-related spots in Barcelona, and group and plenary work, they will gain a deep insight into the topic. Background scientific material for self-reasoning will additionally be provided.

Besides, participants will be introduced to the results of the climate crowdmapping and the living labs activities within the TeRRIFICA project. Based on this, they will – together with all Summer School participants – develop climate visions for 2030 in Europe. This work will be assisted by a mentor and the final results will be presented at the end of the Summer School to a broader audience.
