Meeting of the UNESCO Chairs in Higher Education

The aim of this meeting is to constitute a working group of highly relevant and motivated UNESCO Chairs from around the world, able to discuss on how universities can, at the same time, get involved and have impact on the development of their own society and in achieving the overall sustainable development goals. The results of this working group will be published in the next GUNi Report. GUNi is convinced that the role that UNESCO Chairs are playing as useful agents for development is crucial in the light of the approval of the Sustainable Development Goals and the post 2015 Agenda. For that reason, its point of view needs to be included in the Report Higher Education in the World 6, devoted to this topic. The working group constituted in this meeting will discuss on the dual responsibilities of universities at local and global scale, to identify best practices and to provide recommendations to both academic community and public officials on how universities can improve and make compatible cultural, social and economic impact at local and global levels.

The meeting will take place on Sept, 29th from 9h to 17h in Barcelona.
