On 10 November 2009 the seminar “Universities in a global world. The International Projection Plan for Catalan Public Universities 2010-2015" took place.

The International Projection Plan for Catalan Public Universities 2010-2015 aims to provide an innovative response to the need to build a long-term, structured internationalisation process that can provide a step forward for the university system in terms of its positioning in Europe and the world, strengthening the joint universities and science project and the relationship of the university with its country based on knowledge and open to the world.

The aim of the seminar was to hold a joint discussion of the draft Plan and joint strategies for international projection. The discussion was held between the rectors and vice-rectors of the ACUP, Mr. Joan Majó, Commissioner for Universities and Research, Mr. Ignasi Doñate, Director General for the International Projection of Catalan Organisations. Ms. Monica Margarit, Director of the Universidad.es Foundation and three other internationally recognised experts – Mr. Grothus, Delegate – Secretary General of the DAAD (Germany), Dr. Bassi, Rector of the University of Trento (Italy), and Dr. Noorda, President of the Association of Universities-VSNU (Netherlands).

The International Projection Plan for Catalan Public Universities 2010-2015 is the result of almost ten months of intensive work based on the proposals of the University of Catalonia roadmap document. It was designed and drawn up by the Secretary of the ACUP along with the International Relations Committee, which in turn is composed of the Vice-Rectors of International Relations and the Directors of Heads of the International Relations Offices.
